Guides & TOS

By leasing a premium vanity subdomain from MailCellar, you agree to abide by the following Acceptable Use Policy. These rules exist to protect the global reputation and deliverability of our shared root domain.

How to Apply

To protect the reputation of our root domains, MailCellar operates strictly on an application basis. You must check the availability of your desired prefix and submit an application with your project details. If provisionally accepted, you will undergo a brief review (2–3 business days) and a 15-minute discovery video interview to verify your identity, discuss your project, and ensure compliance before proceeding.

How to Pay

During or immediately after your interview, you will choose one of three implementation pathways (Tier 1: Email Only, Tier 2: Blogger Managed, or Tier 3: Full DNS Control). We will then issue your digital Lifetime Lease Agreement and a secure invoice for your one-time flat fee. As soon as the contract is signed and the funds have cleared, your technical configuration window opens.

How to Manage

Technical setup and management depend on your chosen tier. For Tier 1 and Tier 2, our technical team handles the adjustments manually—simply provide us with your target email or Blogger CNAME records. If you need changes later, contact support via email or live chat. For Tier 3 (Full DNS Control), provide us with the Name Servers from your preferred DNS manager, and we will delegate the zone to give you 100% autonomous technical control.

Acceptable Use Policy

General Conduct & Prohibited Activity

Any fraudulent or illegal activity will result in immediate account and subdomain deletion without refund. We operate a zero-tolerance policy for the following activities across all tiers:

  • Illegal Acts & Deception: Scams, catfishing, phishing, malware distribution, or any form of illegal activity are strictly prohibited.
  • Gambling & Betting: We do not permit sports betting, online casinos, or the hosting/positive mention of gambling services.
  • Cryptocurrency: Crypto-related projects, exchanges, or crypto-scams are not allowed. Exception: Utilizing your domain for a personal cryptocurrency wallet (e.g., a Proton Wallet) is permitted.

Payment & Fees

  • One-Time Fee Guarantee: You will only ever be charged a single, flat fee for your subdomain lease. We will never charge you recurring subscriptions or hidden maintenance fees.
  • Activation: All payments must fully clear before our technical team begins the configuration and activation of your subdomain.
  • Accepted Methods: We currently only accept Cash, PayPal, or CashApp.

Content & NSFW Policy

If you choose to connect your personal website to your subdomain, or if we host your subdomain via Blogger, you must adhere to the following content guidelines:

  • Real-Life NSFW Media: The display of NSFW content featuring real-life images, such as photographs or videos, is strictly prohibited.
  • Artistic Exceptions: Artistic erotica in the form of drawings, illustrations, or written literature featuring sexuality is permitted, provided that all depicted characters are adult humans.

Email Forwarding Rules

For users utilizing our Email Forwarding services, addresses may be used freely for both personal and legitimate business purposes. However, the following restrictions apply:

  • Prohibited Subscriptions: You may not use your MailCellar vanity address to subscribe to NSFW subscription mailing lists or platforms.
  • General Abuse: Using forwarding addresses to engage in scams, catfishing, or bypassing blocklists violates our general terms and will result in termination.

DNS & Outbound Sending (Tier 3)

Users with full DNS control who connect their subdomain to a 3rd-party email provider must protect the root domain's sending reputation:

  • Permitted Usage: Outbound email can be used for any legal purpose, including personal communications, newsletters (with explicit opt-in), and transactional emails. Exception: Relatively low-volume, targeted B2B (Business-to-Business) outreach emails are permitted.
  • Strictly Prohibited: You must not engage in unwanted mass spam, political spam, race or gender-based hatred, catfishing, scams, or crypto-scams.
